On Saturday July 24, 2021 at 1pm the exhibit Racism in the U.S. Military will open at Michigan’s Military Heritage Museum. The exhibit features the story of two officers in the U.S. Army, Colonel Charles Young who was the highest ranking Black officer in 1917 and Major General Robert W. Smith III who retired in 2004. Artifacts of both officers will be on display along with a short video presentation which compares and contrasts the careers of these officers and the challenges they faced. This exhibit will broaden your cultural horizons.
M.G. Robert Smith and members of Col. Charles Young’s family will be attending.
We look forward to seeing you!
